The Airport
We are one of Sweden's fastest growing airports that currently flies to 22 destinations in 12 countries with the airlines Ryanair, Wizzair and Gotlandsflyg (for more information about our destinations, see here). The expansion has made Gothenburg City Airport to an important part of the hospitality industry and tourism in western Sweden as well as for business exchange with the outside world.
We are located only 15 minutes from Gothenburg city and it is easy to get to and from the airport by both car and taxi or by bus. Our proximity to town and the fact that we are a smaller airport makes most take less time. It also allows for a completely different personal service and flexibility than a large airport can offer. Our own staff will take care of everything - from the time you arrive until you board the plane. Of course, we also offer all the amenities you need while you wait for your departure. We have a souvenir shop as well as a duty free shop, a bar, a café and a fully licensed restaurant serving both hot and cold dishes.
We started once as a military airport, but today we have many different operations at Gothenburg City Airport. Among these you will find - in addition to our company for passenger flights - several flight schools, air taxi, corporate flights and socially beneficial flights such as the Air Ambulance, the Swedish Coast Guard and the Rescue services. This mixture of operations that are not usually found together with regular flights provides Gothenburg City Airport with a unique character.
The airport continues to grow and has now passed 800,000 passengers per year. It is important that we continue to evolve in a responsible manner. This includes that we take our responsibility for the environment. Among other things, all our electricity is produced by Big Glen Sweden's largest wind turbine. We have also invested in very advanced technology for our arrivals and departures so that the flight can be planned better, which in turn results in lower fuel consumption.
